Topic: We’re halway through 2016. Choose your favorite book of the year so far.

This was a hard choice! For me it’s a 3-way tie between Wolf by Wolf, Rebel of the Sands and Starflight. I loved all of these books so far this year and yes, Wolf by Wolf was released last year, but it’s new to me! The writing, the emotion throughout and the whole “what if” history just captivated me from start to finish. I cannot wait until the sequel is released later this year. I am so excited that I have it marked on my calendar and I never, ever do that.

Original Cover/Cover From My Country:

This cover is just so perfect! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!!! ♥️

Favourite Covers:

The covers are basically the same, just the colour has changed. Equally amazing and a perfect fit for the story. It reminds me of the World War II era propaganda posters. I can’t stop gushing about how I adore everything about this book.

Least Favourite Covers:

This Italian cover is not my cup of tea. So little of the story actually happens in Berlin (or Germania) and the main character spends the whole novel covered up because of her wolf tattoos that I don’t think it represents the novel very well. They didn’t even try. Ugh!

Topic: Summer just started!! Choose a book you want to read this Summer.

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins has been on my TBR for quite so time. A few months ago I finally picked up a copy and really look forwarding to reading it this summer. I’ve heard good things, so fingers crossed that I like it. The plot seems quite light and cute. Everybody needs so romance in their life right? My only worry is that I seem to have a love/hate relationship with contemporary books. I’m trying to branch out more to other genres. Fantasy is great, but it’s nice once in a while to be grounded in the real world. Have you read this book yet? What were your thoughts?

Original Cover/Cover From My Country:

This cover is alright. It’s not special or anything. I wish the girl’s face wasn’t on the cover and not just because I don’t like when people are on book covers. It would have looked better if she was posed like the male model. I don’t know…that’s just my thought.

Favourite Covers:

I love the pink in the redesign. It’s simplistic, but girly and romantic. The cover on the right also stood out to me. It’s how I imagine romance novel covers should look like

Least Favourite Covers:

How should we represent France? Oh, I don’t know. Just shove a giant macaroon on the cover. No thank you! And well, the last cover sums up what I dislike about covers. People and the overly dreamy girl longing for her Romeo. Ugh!

Topic: Every author has to start from somewhere. Choose your favorite debut novel.

Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira, was released in 2014, and completely stole my heart. It was beautifully written, haunting, soul crushing and yet hopeful. It made me feel so many emotions. I cried, I laughed, I wanted to throw the book out of a window…sometime I felt these all at once. I could feel and truly understand a lot of what the main character was feeling. If you haven’t read it, then you really need to. And the ending…wow!

Original Cover/Cover From My Country:

I really like the concept behind this cover. It’s simple and the colours of the sky represent the change the main character goes through. Perhaps I’m reading too much into it, but I think the cover is perfect! ♥️

Favourite Covers:

These covers all follow the same concept as the original: a girl writing, stars and a changing sky. I LOVE them all!

Least Favourite Covers:

This Russian cover doesn’t give me the same feelings that the others do. I look at it and go meh! It’s not bad or ugly but just lacklustre.

Topic: Yesterday was International Children’s Day!! Choose a book you would read in your childhood if you could go back in time.

If I could go back in time and read a book from my childhood, it would have to Harry the Dirty Dog by Gene Zion and Margaret Bloy Graham. Why this book? I had never heard of it before, but for it was one of the beginner level books for my Spanish class. So, I’ve read it in Spanish, but not English. I’m beginning to realize how many books I just didn’t read when I was a kid. What was a doing with my life?!?!

I could only find two covers: the 50th anniversary edition and the original cover from 1956.

Topic: Choose a book you would want to see as a movie or TV show.

TV or movie adaptations of books always worry me. They are never as good as the book, but I hate it when they change too many things or lose what made the book special. But if I had to choose a book I would want to see made into a TV or movie it would definitely be Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton. Visually it would be stunning! What do you think?

Original Cover/Cover From My Country/Favourite Cover:

Just look at this cover! It’s so gorgeous I don’t even have words to explain how much I love it. It looks even better in person. The way the gold shimmers in the light. WOW! The image just doesn’t do it justice. I just adore it!

My Least Favourite Covers:

Why mess with a good thing? These covers aren’t terrible, but they don’t have the same wow factor as the original. Also, the woman has a dead face. There’s nothing there that resembles Amani.

Topic: Choose a book that features your favorite LGBTQ couple.

Malinda Lo has written some pretty fantastic LGBTQ books and Ash has been one of my favourites. It’s a reinterpretation of Cinderella with the main character, Ash, falling in love with the King’s Huntress, Kaisa.

Original Cover + Cover From My Country:

8792631

I love the dark mood that this cover establishes. It’s so simple and yet perfectly portrays the struggles Ash faces in the novel.

My Favourite Covers:

These covers are all pretty much the same, just with different shading. Either way, I really like these covers and the tone they are trying to set.

My Least Favourite Cover:

6363322

This cover is from the paperback edition and is the complete opposite of the other covers. It’s not gritty or dark and I simply don’t like it.

Topic: Because friendship matters choose your favorite bookish BFF.

When reading the prompt for this week’s post I automatically thought of Celaena and Nehemia from the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. Their friendship was such a source of light for both of them. They both were expected to act a certain way in public, but together they could be who they really were. They laughed, gossiped and went shopping. I just loved these two together! ♥️

Original Book Cover + Cover From My Country:

7896527

I really don’t like this cover. It doesn’t remind me of Celaena at all. Thank goodness for the redesign!

My Favourite Covers:

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these covers! This is how I imagine Celaena – strong, mythical and hell bent on revenge.

My Least Favourite Covers:

These two covers are just…nope! The first is from Romania and contains way too much black in the background. The second is from Israel and looks like a bad case of cosplay. If I saw these covers on the shelf I would not buy them.
