The July edition of #AYearAThon is now over! The theme this month was TBR catchup. I didn’t read as much as I hoped to, but I did manage to finish 2 books and make progress in one that I started a while ago.
The first book I read was The Replacement Crush by Lisa Brown Roberts, which I loved! It was quite short and didn’t take much time to read. Rook by Sharon Cameron was the other book I completed. It was much longer than what I usually read during a readathon, but I couldn’t wait to finally start it. It took a while before I was hooked. Reviews of these books will be posted soon. Once I finished these two books I didn’t feel like starting another one. Instead, I went back to A Tyranny of Petticoats, a book that I started during last month’s #AYearAThon. I fall in and out of interest with it. I’m basically now just reading a short story, putting it down and going back to it when I feel like it. I’m in no hurry to finish it.
The next #AYearAThon will take place between August 1st-7th and focus on biographies and non-fiction books.
The July edition of #AYearAThon started yesterday! The theme this month is TBR catchup. I love this topic because I don’t have to seek out new books to match the theme and can focus on the huge pile of books that I want to read either for review or fun.
Today, I finished The Replacement Crush by Lisa Brown Roberts. I’m really enjoying cute romance novels and this book was perfect. The nerd factor was strong with this one! The references to Star Trek, Firefly and Doctor Who made me love it so, so much! Also, I couldn’t stop smiling! My face seriously hurt from all the smiling. The banter between the characters was perfect! ❤
I also made more progress with Rook by Sharon Cameron. This is a book I’ve wanted to read for a long time. I’m not sure why it took me so long to get to it. Although I started reading it before the readathon started, I never made much progress. I’m about 100 pages in which isn’t very far because it’s around 450 pages. I’ll be busy tomorrow and Thursday…so fingers crossed I can find some time to read.
It’s time for the July edition of #AYearAThon! Each month this Goodreads group hosts a read-a-thon based on a different topic. This month the read-a-thon will run from July 4th-10th and focus on catching up on your TBR.
The theme this month is perfect! I’m slowly but surely getting all of my books for review read which means I can then start catching up on the big sequels released this year. I plan on reading 3 books, although this may be wishful thinking on my part. I have a friend visiting and lots of family plans. I have already started Rook, so that’s a bonus. Fingers crossed!
Do you plan on taking part in this month’s #AYearAThon? ❤
The June edition of #AYearAThon is now over. In total, I read 2 books and am half-way through the third I planned on reading. I’m quite happy with it because I usually don’t read more than 1 book a week and these were books I had been wanting to read for a while. Plus, I’m still working (one more week…oh yeah!) and that takes up a lot of my time. So, two books is awesome. 🙂
The next readathon runs from July 4-10 and will focus on catching up on your TBR. I love this theme because I can read any book that I want and as an added bonus, count them towards all of the other challenges I’m involved in! Yay!
- Unicorn Tracks by Julia Ember
- Huntress by Malinda Lo
- A Tyranny of Petticoats: 15 Stories of Belles, Bank Robbers & Other Badass Girls edited Jessica Spotswood
The fourth day of the June edition of #AYearAThon is now over. I really haven’t been reading a lot, but I’ve made sure that I’ve put aside some time each day.
As planned, I finished reading Huntress. It was a very unevenly paced book and not one of my favourites from Malinda Lo, but still enjoyable nonetheless. I also started A Tyranny of Petticoats, a book I’ve been wanting to read for a while. It’s a collection of historical fiction short stories by a variety of female authors. I love the concept and can’t wait to read more! 🙂

The second and third days of the June edition of #AYearAThon is officially over. This edition of the readathon will run from June 6-12 and focus on LGBTQQIAAP+ books.
I was on fire on Monday, but on Tuesday not so much. I started Huntress by Malinda Lo and got about 20% into it. I just didn’t feel like reading and pushed myself as much as I could. 😐
Today went much better! I read up to 72% of the book and hope to finish it tomorrow. The pacing is quite strange and how much of the book I read and how quickly depends on what’s happening. I love the magic, monsters and action scenes, but the long road sequences are a bit boring.

I can’t believe I just discovered the #AYearAThon group on Goodreads! Each month this group hosts a read-a-thon based on a different topic. This month the read-a-thon will run from June 6-12 and focus on LGBTQQIAAP+ books.
For this theme I hope to read 3 books. It all really depends on how much time I have. This is the week of exams and I’ll have lots to grade, but I can also use it as a way of relaxing after having my eyes bug out from starring at essays all afternoon.
Have you ever participated in this read-a-thon before? Also, any other LGBTQQIAAP+ book suggestions? 🙂
