The monster showed up after midnight. As they do.

But it isn’t the monster Conor’s been expecting. He’s been expecting the one from his nightmare, the one he’s had nearly every night since his mother started her treatments, the one with the darkness and the wind and the screaming…

This monster is something different, though. Something ancient, something wild. And it wants the most dangerous thing of all from Conor.

It wants the truth.

rewThis book is beautiful! It shows the struggle of belonging and letting go of things and people. This is not a happy book.  It is actually very, very sad, however, it contains and demonstrates a great life lesson. I bawled my eyes out and felt how my heart was just crushing and it hurt!!! Really, it did!!!!

I think everybody has gone through a rough and tough situation. This is a story about TRUTH, about accepting beliefs and believing at the same time. The metaphors, the language, just everything, they were amazing!

I really do not have anything else to say, rather than. READ IT! it is a book that will touch your heart and make you remember those hard and sad moments. Grief and loss, that’s what it is about.

  1. I really loved this one too. Did you read the illustrated edition? I am thinking not since it says the hardcover… anyways if you get the chance, make sure to pick up an illustrated edition and flip through it! The illustrations were awesome and really helped to set the tone.
