Endangered (Daughter of Hades #1) by Dani Hoots
Release date: May 13th, 2016
Publisher: Dani Hoots
Genres: Young Adult
Chrys has been in the Underworld for thousands of years, hidden away by her father, Hades, from all of the other gods. He’s afraid that if someone finds out about her, they will destroy her because of the dichotomous power that she holds, the power of life and death. So she has remained in the Palace of Hades all her life, making very few friends and always bored out of her mind.
Huntley would have never guessed that after he died he would wake up with a beautiful girl standing over him. And that she would be the Dark Lord of the Underworld’s daughter. Yet, for some reason, she keeps him around as her tutor, as if he knows anything about the world. But Huntley knows that all she really wants is a friend; being trapped in the Underworld can get pretty lonely.
That is until Chrys decides she wants to run away to the human world after a big fight with her mother Persephone. Chrys claims her father is just over reacting and that nothing bad will come of it. There’s no way that the gods will notice she’s there for only a couple of days…right?
I received this free book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion.
Well, I really liked this story. I read some reviews and was discouraged, but decided I will give it a try. Thank God I did that because I enjoyed this story from beginning to end. First of all, the characters!!!!!!! Greek Gods and Goddesses …. A M A Z I N G ! Greek mythology is something I really like and read about.
The story begins in the UNDERWORLD. Chrys is the main character and is the daughter of Hades. She is destined to the UNDERWORLD because Hades is afraid something bad will happen to her if she ever decided to leave his side. Her mom is Persephone and is always fighting with Hades, which makes Chrys sad and angry at the same time. Her parents are not always together and Chrys wonders why her mom leaves every 3 months and visits Earth. What could be better than the UNDERWORLD?!!!
She really desires to leave her world and see what is what everybody talks about …. Earth. A.J and Huntley are her best friends, and together they decide to have a sneak peak of the Earth without Hades knowing. Once they are on Earth they meet new people and face multiple challenges. Greek Gods make their appearance and make the storyline so interesting that it keeps the reader going on. When I read this part I literally went: “Hell Yeah!!!!! Action!”
I liked the mythological elements added and combined with the modern era. Also, I can see that Dani Hoots made a research about Greek mythology. Thumbs up for that!
The ending was not so amazing, though. I believe it could have been better. Other than that, I liked it a lot!
